I usually don't like comparing authors or books but this time parallelity with A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets is glaring.
I gave both books five stars and I really liked Bowen's book butJohn & George is better written and told, it does have nice pictures & illustrations by the author.
Some of Dolan's drawnings can be seen here
On a side note this summary is misleading. Makes me wonder if a person who wrote it wasn't told basic stuff about John and his dog or it's an attempt to sell this as a sob story. First of all, John's early life was not marked by neglect and abuse and while it might be that whoever wrote this blurb and I've different definitions of abuse & neglect but [George the dog]was scared of human contact. Eh? George the dog showed signs of past abuse and neglect but he wasn't scared of humans.
