I enjoy reading books, reading/talking about books and reading/talking about authors.
WHAT COLOUR IS THIS DRESS?

Interesting mix of fiction & trivia (this is supposed to be Watson's casebook) and non fiction ( short bio of Arthur Conan Doyle, comments on the original stories, on earlier adaptations and of course background on the BBC show.)
(show spoiler)
Belinda was written in a time when most people thought that young women reading books is a waste of time.
Jane Austen mocked this notion in Northanger Abbey and so does Edgeworth but in less noticeable way.
Most important thing about Belinda is that it isn't a novel, it's a moral tale. As such Belinda, our heroine, is intentionally Mary Sue and the story suffers for it. That's said the story is interesting enough and Edgeworth's talent shows. One could only wish she wouldn't had well intending father who gave her useless writing advices. It was him who encouraged Edgeworth to write moral tales and not novels.
And I would highly recommend Moore's How to Create the Perfect Wife: Britain's Most Ineligible Bachelor and His Enlightened Quest to Train the Ideal Mate the real story behind Clarence Hervey and Virginia.
Hugely disappointed.
I know nothing about the author but this play was performed by Ben Whishaw and Andrew Scott, two amazing actors who support GLBT rights and imagine how upset I was when, I personally, found this play homophobic, misogynistic and biphobic.
Also this is labelled as a comedy but again, I did not found it funny.
And lastly as someone in a hybrid relationship and being happy with it, FUCK this play.
I usually don't like comparing authors or books but this time parallelity with A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets is glaring.
I gave both books five stars and I really liked Bowen's book butJohn & George is better written and told, it does have nice pictures & illustrations by the author.
Some of Dolan's drawnings can be seen here
On a side note this summary is misleading. Makes me wonder if a person who wrote it wasn't told basic stuff about John and his dog or it's an attempt to sell this as a sob story. First of all, John's early life was not marked by neglect and abuse and while it might be that whoever wrote this blurb and I've different definitions of abuse & neglect but [George the dog]was scared of human contact. Eh? George the dog showed signs of past abuse and neglect but he wasn't scared of humans.
Interesting, likeable characters and good plot. Highly recommended.
But there were three things that rubbed me off in the wrong way. It could be that I’m just too sensitive as other reviewers didn’t mention it (or maybe they did. I didn’t read every review).
~ Paris jokes about his slutty past that borders with self deprecation.
~ How were they going to ugly Paris up? Without prosthetics, that was going to be difficult.
An albeist slur. No comments. But what I’m going to do is wonder why there should be a need “to ugly Paris up” in the first place? Hateful bigots can be good looking charmers too. For those who haven’t read the book, Roan and Paris wishes to infiltrate into an antigay, anti shifter, possibly violent, group.
~ And most importantly, Roan’s prejudice against flamboyant men and stereotyping flamboyant men.
Was Eli aware he had a gay cut?
Eli had a “messenger bag,” aka a man purse (seriously, was he trying to look as gay as possible? Was this some sort of obscure shot at him?)
Lamentation is the 6th book in the series and starts approximately a year after the events of Heartstone.
Shardlake (44) is taken into Queen's confidence and the adventure begins. Who (and why) stole Queen's manuscript?
Barak was not prominent in the first part of the book,

Unbelievably good.
Harry is slowly recovering from his "training". Draco and Connor are slowly growing up. And Snape is growing more attached to Harry, ready to sacrifice their bond in order to keep Harry safe .
Lovely imaginary and characters.
Favourite characters: Rufus, The Malfoys (especially Narcissa), the Parkinsons (Pansy's parents are awesome), Millicent, Minerva, Regulus, Evan and of course Harry and Snape.
